Open Sense puts environmental sensing in everyone's hands. Sensors anyone can build, data that belongs to the person who gathered it, and the whole thing open.
Your data is yours.
All data that is collected will eventually be put on a blockchain. You can never change it once it is there, but you can subscribe to the readings, if you have the right key. You will always have the key to your own data, and never to anyone else's unless you negotiate a subscription with them.
Open, all of it
The entire design, the full bill of materials, the construction instructions, and the source code will always be available, Open Source under the MIT license. Take it and make it your own. Add the sensors you care about. Remove the ones you do not. Make it your own.
The first node
The first one rides on the back of my chair. A 64 by 32 matrix panel on the headrest shows the readings right where I am, in real time, for anyone near me to read. I am building it to show what is possible when a person decides to build it.
Where this goes.
This has the potential to go city wide, and much further. One node becomes many, each one owned by its builder, all of it feeding an open record that nobody controls. This could become a full blown movement.
